As The Story Goes

He was a drifter, an out the door man
He changed his story
changed his scenery when ever he can
He didn't care or so he would say
He said that life wasn't worth living any other way
So he roams around from town to town
with a wanted look in his eyes
And no matter how hard he tries and tries
he still can't figure why

She was a loose end, she was high all the time
She said that one honest man was too hard to find
So she had many and cared about none
Said she had no regrets about what she done
So she roams around from bar to bar
with a haunted look in her eyes
And no matter how hard she tries and tries
she still can't figure why

And when they met, it was crazy and wild
When he looked into her eyes he felt like a child
He felt like a child after all he'd been through
Said there wasn't much for this woman he wouldn't do
So he found a place in the centre of town
and he thought they'd settle down
And no matter how hard he tried and tried
he just can't figure why

Well, they lived together in a hell of their own
He had his job, she had her bottle, they had a home
They didn't talk much about what had gone wrong
Spending night after night alone with the TV on
Well, he works all week in a factory
doing jobs that he don't like
And no matter how hard he tries and tries
he just can't get it right
A year or more latter on a Saturday night
After two bottles of Jack he took flight
'cause he was a drifter and she's a loose end
So the story goes woh woh woh
as the story goes
