With
Lionel Lodge's smokey, powerful voice and
the high energy of his acoustic guitar playing;
With
Rens Newland's stunning, virtiouso electric and acoustic
guitar solos and licks;
With Magic Markus Weissenbach pushing and drawing out the
groove on the tuba
plus Georg Beck, the groove master himself, kicking it up
on drums.
The Rock Quartet lifts the room. Read reviews of the
Live CD!
The Rock Quartet was formed out of necessity, we needed a bass player for
a already booked
show. The Lionel Train bassist, Berhard Osanna, was not available neither
was his stand in.
Markus Weissenbach, the happy tuba player, was already working with Rens in
a Dixieland
Jazz band. We thought "Why not, let's try it." Markus was keen to
dip his musical prose into
our unique river of rock music and so we were off and puffing.
The first show was such a success with the
audience that we were hired on the spot to do more
shows at the same venue. In the few years since that first gig we have played
many shows with
Markus. His warmth and humor comes through in his playing and nicely lifts
the rock and
American folk grooves of the songs we play.
